Description
A blood smear—also known as a peripheral blood smear or blood film—is a thin layer of blood spread onto a glass microscope slide and stained to enable microscopic examination of the different blood cells. Blood smears are used in the evaluation of hematological disorders and are routinely performed to detect blood parasites, including those that cause malaria and filariasis.
